Songs and performers announced for Eurovision Song Contest 2007

Icelandic broadcaster RUV have announced the 24 songs that are going to compete in Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2007, the Icelandic national final. Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins 2007, will take place on Saturday 17th February. The three semi-finals will take place on 20th January, 27th January and 3rd February. The songs must be performed in Icelandic in the national semi finals and final but can be performed in English, or another language, at the Eurovision Song Contest in Helsinki. Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir will host the shows.

Eiríkur Hauksson was a member of the group ICY, the very first Icelandic representatives back in 1986. The finished 16th with Gleðibankinn. In 1991, he took part for Norway as part Just4Fun, finishing 17th with Mrs. Thompson. Stefán Hilmarsson (lyricist) was a member of the band Beathoven (16th in 1988 with Sócrates) and also finished 15th for Iceland in 1991 with Eyfi and Nína. He was also a backing singer in 1994 (Nætur, 12th) and 1999 (All out of luck, 2nd). Furthermore, he wrote the lyrics to the Icelandic entries in 1994 (see above) and 1992 (Nei eða já, 7th). Jón Jósep Snæbjörnsson is the real name of Jónsi, who represented Iceland in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing 17th with Heaven.
