Back around Christmas 1994, Arni Matt wrote in Morgunbladid Newspaper that the song "Hann mun aldrei gleym'enni" of the band Unun was the best song of that summer. Singer of that song was Runar Juliusson (aka Runar Jul).
Unun was born in the summer of 1993, with founding members Dr. Gunni (of S.H. Draumur & Bless fame) and Thor Eldon (of Sugarcubes & KUKL fame).
Unun as Quintet: Gunnar (Dr. Gunni) on bass, Thor on guitar, Jóhann Jóhannsson on keyboard, Heiða Eiríks(dóttir) as the singer and Oli Björn Olafsson on drums.
They played @ Wembley, as supporting act for Björk (15,000 people)
