After my initial shock that a look-a-likey Carlytime is vying to cross the ESC stage for Iceland, I can report that this is quite a nice, upbeat ditty with a very pleasing melody and a strong chorus. It's not really the kind of thing I would normally go for, having a sort of 60s, Itchykoo Park feeling to it, but somehow it really hooks you in from the start. She's got a kooky little voice in which the Icelandic sounds very charming - I'm reminded of fellow Icelandic band Mum in terms of voice quality despite the big difference in musical style - and I can see this making an impact in Helsinki.

Kute Bash Records launches with Tetine and Hellvar - Launch Party on Dec. 06th

DJ Kate Boss (Ricardo Domeneck), DJ OL! (Oliver Krueger) & DJ K.Jell (Philipp Sapp) have founded the Berlin based label KUTE BASH RECORDS to disturb minimalism and spread in-your-face-music aka katebushrock and elektroplop.

First release is the reload of L.I.C.K. My Favela, from TETINE (London/Sao Paulo).
Second release will be the debut album of HELLVAR (Reykjavik).

Unun - Geysir Website

Musikalisches aus Island Unun

Unun wurde im August 1993 durch Thor Eldon und Dr. Gunni geboren. Beide hatten gemeinsame Ideen und spielten sich gegenseitig selbstgebastelte Songs vor. Daraus wuchs das erste Album "Æ " heran, das im November 1994 erschien. Sängerin Heiða brachte frischen Wind ins Studio, da sie über eine Stimme verfügt, die sowohl bei Balladen als auch bei fetzigen Punksongs hervorragend klingt und Ausstrahlung besitzt.

Zur Überraschung verkaufte sich das Album wie verrückt und mit "Log unga folsins" und "Ást í viðlogum" hatte Unun Tophits in den isländischen Charts. Unun wurde der isländische Markt zu klein, sie wollten international bekannt werden und gaben im Sommer 1995 die englischsprachige CD " Super shiny dreams" heraus.

Mittlerweile wurde ein Plattenvetrag mit dem Londoner Plattenlabel Deceptive Records unterzeichnet und die erste internationale Single ist für Juli geplant... . Daß die Band damit den internationalen Durchbruch schafft ist zu erwarten.

Það kom mér ekkert á óvart að hún Heiða skyldi renna í úrslitin. Frábær stelpa... emm... kona þar á ferð. Þetta lag er svo djollí að maður getur ekki annað en fylgt með, sérstaklega þegar maður sér og heyrir fjörið í bakröddunum. Dr. Gunni veit upp á hár hvað hann er að gera enda poppspekúlant nr. 1 á íslandi. Þetta lag á eftir að veita flutningi Eiríks Haukssonar verðuga keppni.

Söngvakeppni: 3 lög í úrslit
Þrjú lög: Ég og heilinn minn, Bjarta brosið og Þú tryllir mig, komust áfram í Söngvakeppni Sjónvarps í gærkvöld.

Hlustendur hafa nú valið níu lög til þátttöku í úrslitakeppninni þann 17. þessa mánaðar. Bjarta brosið er eftir Torfa Ólafsson, sem samdi lagið, og Kristján Hreinsson, sem orti ljóðið. Flytjandi var Andri Bergmann. Þú tryllir mig er eftir Hafstein Þórólfsson, sem samdi lag og texta. Hannes Páll Pálsson samdi textann ásamt Hafsteini. Dr. Gunni og Ragnheiður Eiríksdóttir, eða Heiða, sömdu lagið Ég og heilinn minn. Dr. Gunni orti ljóðið. Heiða flutti.

Congratulations - Well done Heida & Dr. Gunni! Gunnar wants to become famous in Finland (again). Go for it.
